We had a lot of fun this past week. We went to a gymnastics class with a friend, to storytime at Barnes & Noble, and to the library. At storytime, Katherine goes up the center of the stage, stands herself next to the woman hosting the event and starts showing the pages of her own book. She hands out the paper and crayons for coloring and tries to get all of the kids focused and involved. It's hysterical... She does not know how to be in the background.
At the zoo, we discovered the komono dragon the same time as four boys who were between 8 and ten years old. The boys were trying to discuss all the facts that they knew, when the dragon came right up to the window next to them. They were so excited, taking pictures and arguing over who knew more until Katherine elbowed her way in between them and started ordering them to stop yelling, shushing them, and insisted that they stop touching each other. The boys were SOO annoyed but, all the parents couldn't help laughing.
We discovered the petting zoo and the playground this time. She loved the goats and kept trying to feed them. The poor zookeeper kept saying "Um, the goats can feed themselves..." to no avail. The elephant was her other favorite animal, she has as much fun with the exhibits and statues as she has with the animals. We must has stayed at the this bronze statue garden for 30 minutes.
We introduced fingerpainting this week but I think she likes gluing the best.
What a mess we made! We've hit another milestone. Twice this week she had 3-4 hours of completely self-led play. I still played with her but she initiated everything we did from reading books, to coloring, to cooking.
She loves to sing when she wakes up in the mornings. It amazes me with with how many words she knows from the songs we sing or that she learns in nursery. One morning I snuck in with the camera catch her and she tucking in her toys to go to sleep. The initial wake up was so cute, but the video was too long to post. I just have her shaking hands with all her animals. I love her imagination kicking in.
