Our girls - I'm in love!

Baby Genevieve is here!!

At 41 weeks I was admitted to the hospital at 9pm Sunday night with the intent to start a induction early Monday morning. When they checked me at 10pm, I was dilated to 2cm without any assistance, so it was decided to see what I would do naturally. By 1:30am, I could no longer sleep through the contractions. They gave me pitocin at 3am and I was dilated to 5cm by 5:30am when I received an epidural. To my great surprise, I was ready for active labor by 8:30am. Genevieve was face up, though, and got stuck! I pushed for 50 minutes, giving my mom and my sister enough time to get to the delivery room with ten minutes to spare! It was the most physically challenging thing I've ever done. Geoff was so supportive and did so much to ease my anxiety. I was so grateful to have him at my side.

My family won't let forget that I screamed in shock the moment I saw Genevieve for the first time! In my defense, I had been pushing so long that it surprised me when she actually came! And she was big and so beaten up! My scream caught everyone off guard and they started laughing! So glad that I could provide a bit of humor...
Hello, Bat Girl!! So angry for being in the world only a couple of minutes! She slapped one of the doctors on her when they handed her off to me...in true Katherine tradition.
It meant the world to me to have my mom and Natalie there.
It killed Katherine to not be allowed at the hospital till later. When we called to inform her that her little sister finally been born, my friend Christen, who been watching her, said that Katherine was so happy that she sat down in the middle of room and cried!
Katherine has since enjoyed being a big sister and takes her responsibilities seriously.
These are the happiest days in life!

A princess birthday

Our little girl turned 4 yrs old. Last year was a disaster so we were determined to make it fun and totally what Katherine wanted. It was a small little party but she loved it. She was even sick with a UTI but she didn't let it stop her. Everyone thought I was crazy for planning her party the weekend I was due, but it kept me from going crazy... I'm not very patient.

Not quite, but it made a good costume for a business conference.
