The highlight of this fabulous week was Geoff taking me to lunch at Fogo de Chao, a brazilian churrascaria, heaven-sent, for Valentine's Day. This made the top 3 meals we've ever had together. It was delectable! I found a picture of a waiter who is holding a skewer of my favorite meat - picanha? I could not get enough! Afterwards we walked around McCormick Stillman Railroad Park and vowed to take Katherine on another day. She would love the train museums and the carousel. It was a perfect date and the perfect guy. Still in deeply love after 5 years!
Our pampered princess this week did not feel like going out and enjoying the beautiful weather as much as I'd hoped. She was perfectly content staying home. She was very busy playing dress up and mommy to her dolls, cooking both in her kitchen and in mine, coloring (which she calls cully), reading books, and watching movies. Is she a girl or what? The best part was she went through a growth spurt and went to bed at 6pm and slept till 7am. I have felt more rested and relaxed than I have in months!
Going to the library every week has definitely helped her interest in books. She insists on reading them to me, though, instead of letting me read them to her. We found this fabulous pop-up version of Peter Pan and Katherine is enamored with the crocodile. She pretends that it is going to bite off her fingers when she touches it and can do it for hours.
Geoff couldn't resist this glamour shot. We hope she keeps a sense of humor as she grows up, otherwise we'll have a hefty stack of blackmail photos to use to keep her in line!
This week's trip to the zoo we found the stables. We got a big black horse to come talk to us and Katherine decided to try a saddle. As you can tell from the picture, she was a little apprehensive by how wobbly it was, but she still enjoyed it.
Her momma was smart this time and brought a full bag of popcorn to feed the ducks. There was a pack of 9-10 turtles (where is Jack when I need him?) fighting for the popcorn as well. They would come up on shore to find the kernels and everything. I'd never seen turtles act so lively before!
Geoff had to work long and hard hours this week. I felt guilty telling him about all the fun we've had. On top of good times with Katherine, I had two fabulous girls nights. One was a night of hanging out with ladies from my ward and another was a fun phone call with girls from college. I love good friends. Other good things: The husband of a girl I visit teach got baptized on Saturday. I am truly a Mom because I played the piano with Katherine on my lap crying and it sounded just fine. I was able to teach in relief society on the gift Agency and it made me very grateful for the Book of Mormon. No other book of scripture explains the Plan of Salvation nearly so well. I LOVE the discourses given in 2 Nephi Chp 2 and Moroni Chp 7. It was all I could do not to stand there and read the entire hour. I am so grateful for all the blessings the Lord has given our family. Geoff had a long day of church service, which made him gone again, but I wouldn't have him any place else. I love the example he sets for both Katherine and me.
