The last couple of weeks have been a lot of fun. On our way to attend an old friend's wedding reception, we were able to have dinner with Grandmother at a favorite diner called Neilsens. Well, Geoff and I had dinner... Katherine mooched off of Grandmother's chocolate ice cream with nuts. The instant connection formed at her birth remains fully in tact!
Geoff and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. It was one of our best yet! We decided to be nostalgic and revisit some of the local places that have been important to us over the years. We had dinner at Kincaids, where we held our rehearsal dinner. I ordered a sirloin, not remembering whether a pregnant woman is supposed to eat shellfish or not. I am STILL salivating over the Alaskan cod stuffed with crab that Geoff ordered with lime coconut rice... We will definitely be going back! Needless to say, the rest of the night was just fun and relaxing as we walked through the city and drove through our old haunts. I love the man I married and I'm pretty sure he loves me back... ;>)
Everyone I know seems to be out of town, visiting relatives or having family visit them, so Katherine and I have been on our own when Geoff is at work, trying to create our own fun. Geoff took his scouts on hike Tuesday morning, so it freed us up to go to Prescott for a couple of days. It was DREAMY to get out of the heat! Katherine's favorite part was playing in the pool with Geoff. She was the monkey and he was the alligator
snapping after her. She laughed and squealed so hard that she threw up! It was so gross to clean up her corn flakes, but we couldn't help but laugh!
We attended a magic show at the library and Katherine was the youngest volunteer. She seemed to enjoy being in front of the crowd and listened to every direction perfectly. I beamed with pride. She is now able to spend HOURS busy in pretend play, so watch out if she ropes you into saving the princess from the scary monster!
One day we took turns drawing a map that outlined all the obstacles you'd have to overcome on your quest on her lap-a-doodle and then the person had to reenact all those tasks to find the password and the key to unlocking the magic flower that could heal Mother Gothel from her old age. It was hilarious to see what she came up with! Cross the river, climb up the waterfall, find the castle on the mountain with flowers, fight the dragon, climb up Rapunzel's hair, etc. This is a really fun age.
She is also going through a Rainbow Brite phase like NONE OTHER! We watch the movie of Rainbow Brite almost every morning. We have started the business of making Color Belts with pockets for Star Sprinkles. This morning she put on several different colors of socks so that she could match!
