These two are quite the pair! They have their own special games, (which usually involves wrestling, poking, chasing, stealing away toys and other harassment) and their own banter (teasing, arguing over whose toy it is, and in all cases remaining contrary to what the other person wants!) It's hilarious to watch these two go at it! She loves it and loves his humor! She is daddy's girl at the core, but she'll only say she loves Mommy! Hehehe... She'd be totally bored if he wasn't around. I'm WAY too tame.
It's always a mystery to discover what I've missed when I've left the two of them alone at home. This is just one of the things Geoff was willing to tell me about when I was gone visiting teaching one morning.

Scribbling turns to Writing
When I looked at this paper, I could not believe how many letters she actually wrote!! Of course, any letters and numbers but the "H's" are by accident, but that's pretty good. We have the kids trace letters at joy school and I think she's getting the idea. It's so fun to see your kids learn!

Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam
Can you believe our little girl is in PRIMARY??? This is her first official day as a big kid. She is giving her first talk this Sunday!!! Her topic is "The Scriptures are the word of God." I think we'll have her talk about how the scriptures teach us about family and prayer. I can't believe we're doing this! Where did the time go???

Special K
Our life is full with joy because of this little one. She is constantly changing and growing. I am thankful to the Disney princesses for getting her more interested in books. The more we go to the bookstore and the library, the more she has been willing to branch out into other areas. Her favorite books usually include a princess, dragons, horses, or fairies.
One my favorite things about her is that she is a cuddle bug. She loves curl up together as we watch movies or read books and pinch my arm. Sometimes a little too lovingly, but most of the time it doesn't hurt!
She is getting the hang of riding her scooter but still struggles with her big wheel. I forget how much coordination it takes. She still tries her barbie skates, but mostly walks in them instead of skating.
Katherine has become a puzzle fiend! She cannot get enough and does them daily. I am amazed at how clever she is and able to figure things out. Her pretend play has become a main focus of the day. She consistently will dress herself in a princess every day. She loves to take turns pretending one of us is Cinderella and the other is the Fairy Godmother. She also loves to do tea parties with all of her Barbies and leave them for "a few days to go shopping at the bookstore." It's precious!
Do your children have similar eating issues? What's not to like about ravioli??
She does dance to other songs but Dawn continues to be her favorite. We will need to get this into lessons.

33rd Birthday
Thank you to my wonderful family who made my birthday so special. We have pulled through some rough patches this year and somehow it made this Christmas all the sweeter. I couldn't stop smiling. I am so grateful for a good sweet husband who is my best friend, for a beautiful daughter who fills my soul with laughter, for generous parents who never cease to amaze me, for fabulous in-laws so loving and kind, for my sisters who offer endless support, and enduring friendships. Thank you for all your love and good wishes. Right back at you!

Christmas morning
This was a total delight to have my mother-in-law, Debbie, brother-in-law, Vic, and my parents with us Christmas morning. Here is a sampling of the goodies Santa left. Can you guess what the long poll is?? (Hint: It is not a net to clean the pool. Answer at the bottom of this post.)
It was a Disney Princess/Barbie explosion at our house. Thank you to a few friends who were looking for new homes for their little girl toys! My mom and I stayed up late hot gluing new flowers to the Barbie mansion. So fun.
**Answer: The Long Poll is a tree lobber (sp?) used to cut down big branches as you trim your trees. It's a gift from my mother to my dad. How's that for romance?? ;P

Block party
I think we have been blessed with the most fabulous neighbors in the world. Our 2nd Annual Christmas Luminaria party was a total success. Wonderful food. Great company... and Katherine LOST IT big time. Some good things just come too late in the night...

Sarager fun!
Andrea organized a cousins picnic over at North Mountain Park right before Christmas! So many kids to play with. Katherine was in heaven! She chased the boys as much as she chased down the balls. She loved playing with the little babies and was hugging and kissing everyone goodnight before we left.
She especially bonded with Larkin and Eliza. When we first ran into them, Larkin told me that her second favorite thing to do was to help people... (She didn't tell me her first!) But what a match made in heaven as Katherine loves to yell "HELP ME!!" while they are pretending the sharks are going to eat them. Thank you for a great time!

To the Dungeon!!
Hostage is one of our new favorite games. Morbid? Violent? Sounds just like Katherine. She loves it when Geoff ties her up. We just feel bad when unsuspecting house guests get suckered in!!
